Representatives from the Greater Dover New Philadelphia Food Pantry stopped by today to pick up 113 packs of ground pork (processed by our Meat Cutting lab) from our fair hog donation effort! Our staff raised $1,580 to purchase the Tuscarawas County Fair hog of Construction Technology student Madison Cottrell (Claymont). The remaining $212 from the effort has been donated to the Buckeye Foundation to benefit the Shannon Wigfield Memorial Scholarship. We are so thankful that our staff raised enough money to benefit two worthy causes! #BuckeyeProud!

October’s Adult Education Student of the Month is Esthetics student Hallie Price. Price is a Quaker Digital Academy graduate and owns her own business, PRO Cleaners. Price enrolled in the program because of her love for beauty and skin care. She hopes to use her education to open a second business, related to esthetics. Price is married and has three children. Her instructor Ms. Emma Brode nominated her. “She is always pushing herself to be better than the day before. She is always working extra on assignments, reading ahead, or asking to retake an exam that she already passed because a 98% just isn’t as good as a 100%”. Congrats to Hallie!
Congrats to our second high school Student of the Month for October, Exercise Science & Sports Medicine senior Mylie Galigher. Galigher attends BCC from Conotton Valley, where she is active in volleyball, softball, cheerleading, bowling, the CV Wish Squad, and the National Honor Society. She also volunteers for the Conotton Valley biddy sports programs and works at the Atwood Dari Bar in the summer. At BCC, she is a Buckeye Ambassador, the HOSA Future Health Professionals chapter president, and was a 2024 HOSA International Leadership Conference qualifier. She is also a member of BCC’s National Technical Honor Society. Her Exercise Science instructor, Mr. Jamey Harlan, nominated her for the honor. “Mylie continually shows her communication strengths as a leader in my lab and with HOSA. She also represents BCC in public by helping our marketing department as an ambassador and has grown so much since entering BCC last August,” said Harlan. Galigher plans to attend college for a pre-chiropractic degree with future hopes of owning a chiropractic practice. Congrats to Mylie!
Congrats to our first October Student of the Month, Law Enforcement and Fire & EMS Technology senior Emmett Windle. Windle attends BCC from Garaway where he has participated in football, basketball, baseball, and wrestling. He is a seven-year Boy Scouts member and is employed by Park Street Pizza. At BCC, he participates in Drug Free Clubs of America and the Good News Bible Study club. Windle’s Law Enforcement instructor, Mr. Jim Myers, nominated him for the honor. “Emmett worked hard as a junior and continues to do so this year. He never complains or offers excuses,” commented Myers. Following graduation, Windle plans to enter the police academy with hopes of working at the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office and eventually wants to become a SWAT officer. He is the son of James Windle and Brenda Windle. #BuckeyeProud!
Our level two Landscaping students designed and constructed a beautiful waterfall installation. The structure features a carefully arranged combination of large and small stones, creating a natural pathway for the water to flow.
