Today, we wrap up our School Board Recognition Month posts with our newest member, Mr. Eric Kinsey! As the newest board member at BCC, we asked Mr. Kinsey to tell us more about himself.

"My family and I are lifelong members of the Indian Valley school district community. I have had the privilege of serving on the school board for over ten years, and my wife, Bobi, and I reside in the Tuscarawas area with our four sons: Max, Grady, Jack, and Cy. In addition to our involvement with the school district, we own and operate Kinsey Excavating & Trucking, Harvest Utility, and Kinsey Farms. We take great pride in our deep roots within this community and look forward to working with Buckeye Career Center."

Thank you to Mr. Kinsey for his willingness to serve BCC and IV, and welcome to the Buckeye family!

Congratulations to Aubrey Knopp! Aubrey is a level one student in the Electrical Systems Technology program and has earned the rank of Eagle Scout in Scouting America as a member of Troop 1 of Dover. Her Eagle Scout project involved rebuilding the trail at the Wayne County Humane Society, improving safety for volunteers as they care for the animals. We are proud to celebrate her leadership, dedication, and service to the community!

Career-tech is cool! We promise!

According to a 2025 Ohio Department of Education and Workforce report, there were 91,015 Ohio students in a career technical education workforce development pathway in any school during the 2023-2024 school year. BCC is proud to be a part of the effort. Check out this article to learn more.

Did you hear the news?

BCC has received grant funding to help CDL students earn a Class A or B CDL license! This funding is provided through the Commercial Truck Driver Student Aid Program, administered by the Ohio Department of Higher Education! Qualifying students will receive 50% of their CDL training costs covered by grant funds, with the remaining 50% provided as a state loan. The loan portion, administered by the state of Ohio and a promissory note, will be fully forgiven if the student works as a commercial driver for at least one year after earning a CDL!

Have you ever thought about where the plow truck drivers in our area got their start?

For many in Tuscarawas County, it started right here at Buckeye Career Center! This photo was shared with us by ODOT District 11 Transportation Administrator Dave Glazer. Dave tells us that 12 out of 25 local ODOT plow drivers, for this past snowstorm, attended (dating back to 1981) or currently attend BCC. That's a span of 46 years! Not to mention, that doesn't include the BCC grads who work in other departments for ODOT.

This picture includes: Leo Wenger, Jessie Bailey, Robert Myer, Mason Armstrong, Highway Maintenance Administrator Ty Justice, State Senator Al Landis, Walter (Roudy) West, Rodney Fondriest, and Garret Dinger. Not Pictured: Simon Thomas, Amy Stout, Jeremiah Henke, Nolan Hagan, and Dan Fouts.

We are #BuckeyeProud of each of you and are so thankful for the work you do to keep our roads safe!
