Our April Students of the Month were joined by their supporters tonight at our Board of Education meeting! #BuckeyeProud!

Last week, we presented State Representative Jodi Salvo with this personalized piece to remember BCC! The desk piece was designed by our CAD/Precision Machining students, sent to Welding for the stand, and polished in Auto Collision!

Congrats to April's Adult Education Student of the Month, student Lita Carpenter. Carpenter attended BCC in high school and enrolled in the Medical Assisting program to obtain more skills for a career with family-friendly work hours. She volunteers at the Greater Dover- New Philadelphia Food Pantry. Carpenter’s instructor, Mrs. Sandy Moss, nominated her for the honor. “At the beginning of the year, Lita was the only student in my class with no medical background. She was very determined to complete the class. She has worked very hard and will make a great medical assistant,” commented Moss. Upon graduation, Carpenter hopes to land a job as a medical assistant. Carpenter and her husband share four children and are expecting a fifth.

Congrats to our second high school Student of the Month for April, Killian Myers! Myers is Utility Lineworker senior. He attends BCC from Carrollton. At Carrollton, he wrestled for one year, and at BCC, he is a two-year member of SkillsUSA. He works at the Carrollton McDonald’s. Myers’ Utility Lineworker instructors, Mr. Jim Pimpas and Mr. Josh Jump, nominated him for the honor. “Killian always works to improve his skills in lab. He has a drive to succeed, which was shown during our recent rodeo competition. He has a bright future in this field.” Myers plans to obtain his CDL and become a lineman upon graduation. He is the son of Brandy Myers and Brian Myers. He will be honored at this evening's Board of Education meeting.

Congrats to our first April Student of the Month, Alyson Perry! Perry is a senior in our Introduction to Nursing program. Perry attends BCC from Tusky Valley. At BCC, Perry is a two-year member of HOSA Future Health Professionals, Drug Free Clubs of America, and is a one-year member of the National Technical Honor Society. Outside of school, she is employed at Discount Drug Mart. Perry’s Intro to Nursing instructor, Mr. Lucas Grove, nominated her for the honor. “Alyson is a remarkable individual whose caring and compassionate nature sets her apart as a true role model for her peers,” said Grove. Following graduation, Perry will attend the University of Mount Union to major in nursing. She is the daughter of Cody Perry and the granddaughter of Dave and Sharon Green.
