Congrats to our second Student of the Month for November, Luke Smith! Smith is a double lab student in Landscaping and Masonry. He attends BCC from Conotton Valley, where he has played football since third grade. Outside of school, Smith works on the family farm and was a 4H member for several years. Smith’s Landscaping instructor, Mr. Bruce Vandall, nominated him for the honor. “Luke sets clear goals for himself and is determined to reach them, whether in class or during group activities. His focus and dedication push others to stay on track to do their best,” said Vandall. Smith hopes to enter the workforce after graduation. Smith is the son of Michael and Amanda Smith.
He will be honored at this evening's Board of Education meeting!

Congrats to our November Adult Education Student of the Month, Utility Lineworker's Tyler Lumbert. Lumbert is a graduate of Sandy Valley and lives in Strasburg. He is employed at Lowe’s and is a member of the United States Marine Corps Reserves. He attends the Cathedral of Life Church and volunteers for Toys for Tots. Lumbert enrolled in the program to better provide for his family, which includes his wife, Hallie. “I wanted to build my skills and learn a valuable trade to support my community,” he stated. Lumbert’s instructor, Mr. Rich Tharp, nominated him for the honor. “Tyler takes great pride in his preparation and demonstrates an extraordinary commitment to his academics and lab work. His character has allowed him to serve as a shining example for his classmates.” Lumbert plans to apply to AEP with hopes of landing an apprenticeship before buying a home with his wife.
He will be honored at this evening's Board of Education meeting!
