New Philadelphia, OH (April 22, 2026) - Buckeye Career Center has named the April Student of the Month recipients. Two high school students were chosen for the honor for demonstrating April’s core value of passion. An Adult Education student was also named for the honor.

The first high school winner is Introduction to Nursing senior Alli Reynolds. Reynolds attends BCC from Carrollton, where she is a member of the National Honor Society, the Academic Hall of Fame, dance line, and track and field. At BCC, Reynolds is a member of the National Technical Honor Society, Drug Free Clubs of America, and HOSA Future Health Professionals. In HOSA, Reynolds just last week placed second at state in the patient care technician competition and will compete at the international competition this summer. She is employed by Jimmy’s Backyard BBQ. Her Intro to Nursing instructor, Mr. Lucas Grove, nominated her for the honor. “Alli is highly focused, consistently producing outstanding academic work while actively seeking opportunities to improve,” said Grove. Following graduation, Reynolds plans to attend the University of Mount Union to obtain her bachelor’s degree in nursing with plans of becoming a registered nurse anesthetist. She is the daughter of James and Sara Reynolds.

The second high school winner is Project Lead the Way/Engineering and Computer Technology senior Jackson Rice. Rice is a home-schooled student from the Bolivar area. He volunteers at the Bolivar Library and enjoys music production, gaming, electronics, and coding. At BCC, Rice is a double lab student and is a member of Business Professionals of America. He will compete at BPA nationals this year after success at regionals and state. Rice’s PLTW instructor, Mr. Tim Vandeborne, nominated him for the honor. “Jackson exemplifies what it means to be passionate about learning and personal growth. He consistently goes above and beyond,” said Vandeborne. His Computer Technology instructor, Mr. Bill Alexander, agrees. “Jackson is focused on his future and is a great student who deserves this recognition,” commented Alexander. Upon graduation, Rice plans to attend Kent State University at Tuscarawas to major in engineering. He is the son of Jeff and Linda Rice.

April’s Adult Education Student of the Month is Lexis Ewing of the Welding Technology program. Ewing is a graduate of Carrollton High School and works as an STNA at Louisville Gardens. She enrolled in the program to gain experience for a future career. Ewing’s instructor, Mr. Marvin Menefee, nominated her for the honor. “Lexis is a great student who works hard and is always willing to help anyone out,” said Menefee.

The three were honored at the April Board of Education meeting.
