New Philadelphia, OH (February 11, 2026) – February is Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month®, and Buckeye Career Center (BCC) is proud to join schools across Ohio in celebrating the powerful impact of career-technical education on students, employers, and communities.
For more than 50 years, Ohio’s career centers have equipped students with real-world skills, industry credentials, and hands-on experience that lead to meaningful careers. Today, CTE continues to evolve—aligning programs with workforce needs and preparing students to thrive in high-demand, high-skill industries. Proudly, BCC will celebrate its 50th anniversary during the 2026-2027 school year.
At BCC, over 1,000 high school students are enrolled in more than 30 career-technical programs at the main campus in New Philadelphia and satellite locations. From health sciences and engineering technologies to public safety, business, construction, and information technology, students gain both technical expertise and essential professional skills that set them apart. Students earned over 4,800 industry-recognized credentials during the 2024-25 school year, with the class of 2024 achieving a 97% placement rate by being employed, enrolled in higher education, or enlisted in the military within six months of graduation.
“Buckeye Career Center students make us proud every day,” said Superintendent Bob Alsept. “They are achieving incredible things in their classrooms and labs, and we are excited to see the impact they will make in our workforce and communities. We are proud to partner with local employers to ensure our students graduate with the skills needed for meaningful, in-demand careers.”
A key strength of CTE is its strong connection to industry. Advisory committees, business partnerships, and work-based learning opportunities help ensure programs reflect current workforce standards. These collaborations allow students to apply their learning in real-world settings while helping local employers build a strong workforce.
Throughout February, BCC will celebrate CTE Month® by participating in a statewide social media campaign highlighting the value of career-technical education. Each day, social media followers will see testimonials from current students, alumni, and staff members. Students can also look forward to special giveaways and activities during lunch periods.
Applications are currently being accepted from high school sophomores and adult students for the upcoming school year. Interested individuals can learn more and apply at www.BuckeyeCareerCenter.org.
