New Philadelphia, OH (August 3, 2026) – Buckeye Career Center is preparing to welcome nearly 1,300 new and returning high school students for the 2026–2027 school year, the district’s 50 year. The year will begin with a Back-to-School Open House on August 12, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., followed by orientation days August 17–20, which will serve as students’ first days of school.
The Back-to-School Open House provides students and their families with an opportunity to become familiar with the building before school begins. Students may also complete several orientation-related tasks, including paying fees, applying for a parking pass, registering for Drug Free Clubs of America, and more. Students may drop off tools or supplies in their career-technical labs and enjoy complimentary ice cream during the event. The school nurse will be available, and staff members will be on hand to answer questions regarding student schedules and the online forms process. Attendance at the Back-to-School Open House is optional.
Students will officially begin the school year during the week of August 17, 2026, with students from selected partner schools attending on designated days. Students from Indian Valley, Dover, and Conotton Valley will attend on Monday, August 17. Students from New Philadelphia, Strasburg, Hiland, Sandy Valley, and Garaway will attend their first day at BCC on Tuesday, August 18. Students from Carrollton, Claymont, and Tuscarawas Central Catholic will attend on Wednesday, August 19. Students from Newcomerstown, Tuscarawas Valley, home-schooled students, digital students, and students from all other districts not previously listed will begin on Thursday, August 20.
Orientation days are considered regular school days, and students are expected to attend from 7:45 a.m. to 2:25 p.m. Student photos will be taken during orientation, and breakfast and lunch will be served. Complimentary ice cream will also be provided by Miller’s Creamery. All students will attend school together on Friday, August 21. Student fees and Drug Free Clubs of America membership fees may be paid during orientation days by cash, check, or credit card. Payments may also be made online through PaySchools Central, BCC’s online payment platform. Fees may also be paid by phone by calling 330-339-2288, ext. 1212.
