New Philadelphia, OH (March 26, 2026) – More than 768 students and guests gathered at Buckeye Career Center (BCC) for its annual Pancakes with Parents event on Wednesday, March 25—setting a new attendance record and surpassing the previous high of 767 guests served in 2025.
The popular event invites families to start the day with their students over a complimentary pancake breakfast and offers an inside look at BCC’s labs and programs.
“We are so happy with the response from our students and their families,” said BCC Superintendent Bob Alsept. “This event has grown into something truly special thanks to the support of our entire community. We enjoy opening our doors, connecting with families, and showcasing the opportunities available here at BCC. It was a wonderful morning for everyone involved.”
Preparation for the event began early, with BCC staff starting to mix and cook pancakes at 6am prior to the event start time of 7:45am. In just over an hour, volunteers served 1,600 pancakes.
BCC extends its appreciation to Kent State University at Tuscarawas for providing additional parking at the Performing Arts Center, as well as to the New Philadelphia Police Department for assisting with traffic control. BCC maintenance staff helped transport guests to and from the overflow lot to ensure a smooth experience.
Families also received a complimentary travel coffee mug and had the opportunity to have a photo taken by BCC Business & Marketing students. Event photos are available on the BCC Facebook page. Additionally, students gave tours of their labs to their visiting family members during the event.
The pancakes were prepared by Superintendent Mr. Alsept, Director of Curriculum, Instruction & Adult Education Mr. Frank Polen, and Principal Mr. Matt Fockler, with support from Cafeteria Director Phyllis Willison, cafeteria staff, other administrators, the BCC marketing team, counselors, and other additional staff members.
