New Philadelphia, OH (May 12, 2025) – Two Buckeye Career Center Business Professionals of America (BPA) members are now national champions, while several others also placed at the BPA National Leadership Conference. The event was held May 7-11, 2025, in Orlando, Florida.
Business & Marketing student Madison Harmon (Claymont) earned first place in Fundamental Word Processing, as did her classmate, Danny Dews (Carrollton), who earned the national title in Personal Finance Management. Business & Marketing student Ava Starner (Garaway) competed with the Buckeye Business Academy team in the Parliamentary Procedure Team event, earning fourth place.
Computer Technology students Blake Addy (Indian Valley), Landon Burgess (Indian Valley), Wesley Jones (Indian Valley), and Jade McKim (Newcomerstown) earned second place in the Network Design Team competition, while Kaiden Pack (Strasburg) placed fifth in Computer Networking. Classmate Bobbie Brown (New Phila) earned ninth place in Server Administration with Microsoft.
Buckeye Business Academy at East Holmes students Marissa Montanez, Naomi Crossan, Deborah Erb, Mosheh Crossan, Caleb Hershberger, Jenna Troyer, and Business & Marketing’s Ava Starner earned fourth place in Parliamentary Procedure Team, while Marissa Montanez also placed 10th in Parliamentary Procedure Concepts. Additionally, the following students placed in the top 10% of competitors in open concept events: Marissa Montanez, Caleb Hershberger, Naomi Crossan, Jenna Troyer, and Mosheh Crossan.
The students are instructed by Heather Irwin (Business & Marketing), Bill Alexander (Computer Technology), and Amy Stauffer-McNutt (Buckeye Business Academy at East Holmes). BPA is a career and technical student organization for students pursuing careers in business management, information technology, finance, office administration, health administration and other related career fields.
