- Create, research and provide developmentally appropriate preschool lessons for children
- Develop appropriate learning themes for children ages birth to nine
- Operate a state-certified pre-school, preparing young children for kindergarten
Early Childhood Education students must be able to:
- Physically lift a child, walk ½ mile maintaining the pace of a 3-5 year old child, and see, hear, and respond to children
- Follow a 3-step direction
- Work cooperatively with peers and engage in positive interactions with others
- Express ideas clearly when speaking so that children can understand
- React and respond to children and situations in a safe and reasonable time frame
- Recognize problems or potential problems and formulate solutions to problems
- Read and understand materials and texts used in class
