The main goal of Algebra I is to develop fluency in solving equations. It is the introduction of variables, constants, expressions, and equations. Topics covered are solving equations, simplifying expressions, understanding order of operations, using properties, arithmetic operations with positive and negative numbers, polynomials, factoring, graphing (linear and quadratic equations), working with radicals and expanding arithmetic knowledge. Students will use technology and models to investigate and explore mathematical ideas and relationships and develop multiple strategies for analyzing complex situations. Students will apply mathematical skills and make meaningful connections to life and experiences.
