Enriched Language Arts IV

Prerequisite: Language Arts III
Enriched Language Arts IV, British Literature, is a fast-paced, in depth one credit course that focus upon reading, discussing, writing, and thinking about many facets of our changing language and literature, both fiction and non-fiction. Students will learn to think critically about the works studied in class through dialogue, both written and oral, presentations, projects, synthesis, and evaluation.
In addition to classroom work, students will complete one major and one minor project per grading period. The projects will include one traditional research paper. They may include, but are not limited to, career and research projects, poetry projects, expository and technical writing projects, speeches, and oral presentations.
Students will be expected to read at least six college preparatory-level novels per year. (Two class novels and four independent novels).
Writing portfolios will be kept during the school year to monitor progress using instructor, peer, and self review techniques.
Grammar skills will be implemented throughout the year as applicable. Daily grammar lessons will be done on the Smart Board following the ACT format.
