Sociology is a social science that studies human society and social behaviors. We will examine how your behavior is influenced by social factors. We will also discuss how you have learned a set of social behaviors from others. We will examine the many different perceptions as to what reality is. Throughout this course, we will examine how your social environment shapes you, and how, you in turn shape your social environment.

Student expectations: The student will examine the history of sociology. The student will explore cultural diversity, conformity, and adaptation. The student will conduct social experiments. The student will compare/contrast deviant and socially acceptable behaviors. The student will apply sociological concepts to current issues.
