The students will study an overview of selected issues concerning human personality and relationships found in current American culture. We will examine the history of mental illness as well as the history of psychology. We will examine the physical, emotional, and psychological needs of individuals. Topics of study include: motivation and learning, social and cultural behaviors and expectations, personality, intelligence, abnormal behavior, cognition, and adolescence.

Student expectations: The critical analysis of course materials, the discussion-debate of course related materials, and scientific research and experimentation in and with psychological concepts.
