  • If you use a cell phone and social media during school time to inappropriately make fun of, demean, or degrade another student- your privilege to possess and use a cell phone at Buckeye Career Center will be revoked. All students are expected to conduct themselves in a mature and professional manner and demonstrating kindness and respect at all times to ALL students is an expectation.

  • Using Social media inappropriately can leave a negative footprint and affect future employment. Here are some statistics: the number of employers using Social Media to Screen job candidates at an all-time high

    • 54% have decided not to hire a candidate based on their social media profiles.

    • Half of employers check current employees' social media profiles, over a third have reprimanded or fired an employee for inappropriate content.

    • 70% of employers use social media to screen candidates, up from 11% in 2016

In follow- up to the conversation we had on character during lunch periods yesterday, I would like to share the following from the Career Trend publication titled The Importance of Character in the Workplace:

Integrity

Perhaps the most compelling reason why character is important in the workplace is that it is also vitally important outside the workplace. An employer has limited visibility into an employee's off-duty behavior, but an individual who purposefully lives every aspect of his life with integrity exudes a sense of confidence and self-assurance wherever he goes. An employee who is guided by a strong moral compass exemplifies leadership skills and stands out among his peers, signaling his potential to all who know him.
